This is a textbook about business ethics. It is a new subject in the business and liberal arts curriculum, but a very old topic of discussion, both among businesspeople and everyone else. It revolves around the question, “what are the values of business life, and how do these values fit into the rest of life and society?” There is no simple answer to this question, but it general we can safely say that the values of business life and the values of the rest of life and society are rarely far apart; after all, people in business are people with private lives and a sense of community. The ethics of business life is just the ethics of people in business, and no different, basically, from ethics in general.
