Mission — to ensure the user’s right to free access to information and knowledge; to promote the social development of students, spiritual and cultural development, the formation of self-awareness, education and choice of profession.

Vision — the library should be a cultural and information environment that meets the standards of the largest university libraries in the country and the world

Purpose of the library

Increasing the efficiency of the UMB scientific library, its manageability, expanding the range of library services and improving the quality of information and library services for users by developing a flexible policy for acquiring library stock taking into account the dynamic development of the university, introducing modern information technologies, developing the material base, creating more comfortable conditions for users and improving on this basis information and library support for the quality of education.

The main tasks of the library

• Information support for the formation of a quality assurance system for training specialists, provision of the scientific and educational process with traditional and electronic information resources;
• Formation of the library collection in accordance with the profile of the university and the information needs of readers. Organization and maintenance of reference and bibliographic apparatus and databases;
• Education of information culture: instilling skills in using books, other learning tools, and the library. Preparing readers to work with reference equipment, including in automated mode.

Priority tasks for library development

• Creation of effective mechanisms of interaction with the structural divisions of the university participating in the scientific and educational process;
• Provision of information and library services to ensure the quality of training of specialists;
• Completion of the collection by specialty, annual updating of the collection for all taught disciplines;
• Expansion of the repertoire of library services, improvement of their quality based on the technical equipment of the library, automation of library and information processes;
• Development of the electronic library;
• Ensuring the availability of all library services on the library website;
• High-quality staff;
• Formation of a positive public opinion about the library, development of social partnership technologies to more fully satisfy the needs of readers in literature
