После выхода первой книги Бибиш "Танцовщица из Хивы, или История простодушной" десятками рецензий, ссылок и дискуссий по поводу "феномена Бибиш". Журналисты решали, что это: "блистательная литературная мистификация" или "изумительная, не смотря на свою незамысловатость, литература", "лекарство от ксенофобии". В течение года после выхода первой книги Бибиш была приглашена в ток-шоу "Принцип домино", дважды принимала участие в ток-шоу "Пять вечеров", стала частым гостем на русской службе радио "Би-би-си". О ней снят документальный фильм "Чурка". Первая книга Бибиш еще в рукописи была выдвинута на премию "Национальный бестселлер" и вошла в шорт-лист конкурса "Книга года" - 2004 в номинации "Дебют", награждена дипломом конкурса "Серебряная литера", проходившего в рамках главной ежегодной книжной выставки Санкт-Петербурга "Невский книжный форум".
