Аннотация: The manual is written in the framework of the3 educational project of the European Union Program TEMPUS TACIS (Cjntact #CD_JEP-22077-2001 as an extended version of the lecture number 9 "Data structures, sorting and searshing" in the book "Architecture of computers "ed. S.Y. Serovajsky" S-Print" Publishing House, 2004y. The aim of the project was to develop a curriculum for a Master's degree on "Informatics" in the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi. In the project also participated University of Newscastle upon Tyne (Newscastle, UK). Universidad Politecnica de Valencia (Valencia, Spain) and the Blekinge Institute of Technology (Ronneby, Sweden).
